How we got here... there has been long term banter about having a "lap dog or lab dog". We found out our labs can be a little of both... One day while cruising the innerwebs we found the cutest picture of 4 silver lab pups. Having not seen a silver lab before... Research began. We were knowledgeable about other colors of labs, but would there be any difference with a silver?
No, in our humble opinion, there is no difference between Silver and any other color lab. Silver is a dilute of Chocolate. We wanted to understand what we were getting ourselves in to.
This was a decision that we did not take lightly.
Owning a lab and the possibility of a creating a successful breeding program, would be our goal. We wanted to look beyond adding one more pup to our pack. It quickly became clear that our focus would be to refine our existing bloodline with introduction of another mate to bring health, temperament, look and purpose driven improvement to our labs while removing any undesirable traits.
We are not interested in breeding because "they're cute" or "we do this for the money"...
We do this because we are HTXHARDCORE about labs!
In April of 2o2o, Kristi Hinds and Grace were on the way to/from visiting a possible stud for her upcoming litter. While on the way back it was raining in Cut and Shoot, Texas. They hydroplaned in the silver FJ Cruiser. The vehicle at 30-40mph smashed in to a Crepe Myrtle on the North side of a church.
Witnesses stopped to quickly help. As the driver's door was opened, Kristi was taking off her seat belt. Still dazed, the witnesses were pulling her by the shoulders out of the smoking vehicle. Grace jumped over her lap and disappeared into the near by woods.
Kristi went to the hospital in Kingwood with a broken leg.
While in the hospital, Kristi took to the world of Facebook. Post after post, after post, after post with as much specific information about the wreck was uploaded. After 5 long days, Grace was located behind an occupied/under construction rental home. The owner of the property had read in the newspaper and confirmed by a friend this was indeed the silver lab that was missing from the wreck.
(**Thank You Meagan Ashley Ellsworth for writing the eloquent articles! Thank you to each person that searched for days and hours until Grace was located!)
Co-Owner J. Core was called to the scene... whistled twice and out of the woods Grace went straight to him.
Jason brought Grace home in Houston to calm her down and return to a normal routine.
After seven weeks, Kristi was able to ride to Houston to see Grace! It was a glorious reunion.
By June, Kristi was traveling from Orange, Texas to Sulphur, Louisiana for physical therapy. One day between here and there on a work appointment, Kristi met Theodore. Theodore came outside very friendly and greeted instantly. He wearing an LSU purple bandana, which Kristi is an alumni of.
Although it was not possible for Theodore to have puppies, we were able to get in contact with the owners of Theodore's parents. By September, we were introduced to the handsome Trippin' Into Trouble! We knew Tripp was going to be the right fit for our bloodline and litter.
In October, Mercury HTXHARDCORE Grace and Trippin' Into Trouble knotted up. We welcomed their litter of twelve puppies 12/22/2o2o in Orange, Texas. We decided to keep a female pup, Mars Storm HTXHARDCORE Trouble to our pack.
It was a wonderful experience from start to finish with the litter process. Our mission is to breed labs from love. Matching each parent together and each lovepup to family together. We love what we do.
We looking forward to seeing the HTXHARDCORElabs addition to your family!
